Earlville, Cairns is a highly populated suburb located on the inner southern corridor of the Cairns Local Government Area. The suburb consists mainly of commercial and residential land uses and activities. There are also a number of district and metropolitan level recreational facilities in Earlville. The majority of the development is concentrated in the eastern areas of the suburb, around Mulgrave Road, as the west of the suburb is quite steep. Earlville is about 10mins drive south of Cairns CBD.
The population of Earlville consists mainly of families and first-home buyers. There are a large number of former housing commission homes that have been sold to private owners and have undergone renovation. The hill slopes of the suburb have a number of quality homes.
Earlville has a medical centre and a podiatrist, plus a major pharmacy and health food outlet. The closest hospital is Cairns Base Hospital, about 10-15mins drive north. There are also 24hour medical clinics located on Mulgrave Road, about 5-10mins drive north. All major medical and dental outlets are located in Cairns city which is about 15mins drive north of Earlville.
Earlville has a number of commercial services catering to people's different needs including a library, a pony club and a Centrelink Office. Cairns’ racetrack, Cannon Park is also located in Earlville. There are a number of sport and recreation facilities in the area, including Lions Park (tennis) and Henleys Hill Park (basketball and cricket).
Stockland Shopping Centre is located in Earlville and includes Coles, Woolworths, Big W and Target as well as a cinema complex and specialty shops. There are a number of dining options in the area, including Hopscotch at the new Barr Street Markets. The suburb has a number of petrol stations.
There are a number of child care providers in Earlville and more in the adjacent suburbs of Woree to the south and Manunda to the north.
Earlville has a Catholic primary school and the Balaclava State Primary school, both with Prep classes. The adjacent suburbs of Manunda, Woree and Cairns city offer both state and private high schools.
Sunbus provides a public transport service in the area and taxis are available.
